Quilts that draw on the traditions of quilt making, through piecing, appliqué or wholecloth, but have an original approach. Quilters may use non-traditional fabrics, fabric printing and dyeing, embellishment and unusual construction methods to accomplish quilts under this category. Art Quilts are original designs are using uses color, design, and construction techniques to create a work that expands beyond traditional quilt patterns. Designs are fresh and original, with no copying of patterns used previously by other artists. Typically, art quilts feature abstract, nature scenes, portraits, paintings, whimsical interpretations and so on.

Quilts encompassing any technique, style and pattern but is attempted by a quilter who has been quilting for under 2 years. Ideally you would’ve started quilting early 2018 and onwards.
2020 beckons the EXPO in Dubai, and the committee decided to have a theme that embraces the pillars of the EXPO2020 vision. United We Stand as a theme would encompass quilts that convey meaning in unity. Think about how your design and idea can talk about different cultures, ideas, shapes, and colors to mingle to make something grand!

Encourage your children to get creative! For age groups 18 and younger, submit to the Quilt Show any creation at an A3 size or smaller to qualify for the YOUNG QUILTERS category
A miniature quilt by definition is constructed utilizing a miniaturized (reduced or scaled down) version of the design of a full-size bed quilt. By accurately reducing the size of the quilt blocks and components, the quilter produces an exact replica of a full size quilt in miniature. The maximum width and length of a miniature quilt is 24 inches by 24 inches.
