1. Individuals may enter two quilts per category for the Show
2. All quilts must fall into one of the listed categories :
3. Quilts are to be of three defined layers, with a quilting stitch binding all layers together. You need to have a top, a middle and a bottom layer. Failure to follow this guideline will deem the committee to label your entry as a non-quilt, which means it will not be displayed in the show.
4. Your Quilt needs to have been completed in the last 2 years or lesser. Quilts could have been started for a longer time line, but we require that the completion year of registered quilts be start of 2018 and ahead.
5. How to officially Register a Quilt for the Quilt Show 2020? By filling out completely the Quilt Registration Form The Quilt Registration form is an online form that will be made active on the 1st of November 2019. This is the form that takes in all information that IQSD will need for the quilt you are submitting for the exhibition. Each quilt requires its own form filled out.
In the form, apart from mandatory fields such as quilt dimensions, name of pattern and the references of design (if applicable), you must include an Artist Statement. The statement should be roughly 75 words or lesser, and must describe to the viewer the relationship between the quilt and the quilter, what inspired the quilter to select the particular design/technique and what the quilter is trying to convey through his/her quilt.
Along with the details of the entry form, participants are requested to send a picture of the quilt. If the quilt is not completed when the entry form is being filled out, the participant can send a picture via email to info@classicquiltsdubai.com by or before 31st of January 2020.
6. Credit must be given to all individuals participating directly or indirectly in the quilt entered (e.g. pieced by, quilted by, books, authors, designers and so on). These details will be made available as a mandate on your registration form.
7. A registration/ entry free of AED 150 (Roughly USD 40) must be paid for each quilt registered for the show.
8. On registration, your quilt will be assigned a reference number. This is the main number that the IQS committee will use with respect to your entry. If you do not receive a confirmation email with your reference number, please write to info@classicquiltsdubai.com and we will get back to you with the necessary information.
9. Submission Deadlines :
10. Quilts for the show must be labelled.
The label needs to be of fabric, ideally stitched onto the indicated area so it doesn’t fall off the quilt whilst handling. You can write on the label using markers or get it printed or embroidered. The label needs to be placed on the bottom left-hand corner, when the back of the quilt Is facing you (view graphic). In the label, you are to include :11. Each quilt must arrive to the organizer appropriately packed and clearly labeled. We will return and package the quilt in the same box/package it arrives to us.
12. Place your quilt in its appropriate category: Please ensure that your quilt is placed in the category that best fits the style and design of your quilt. The IQSD committee reserves the right to make changes in the category that you have enlisted during registration if we feel that the quilt fits best in the alternative category. 13. Late entries will not be accepted into the Show.
14. No entries via any other means apart from the online entry form will be official.
15. Your accepted quilt and entry must be available with us from the 15th of February 2020 till the end date of the show i.e. 29th February 2020 (end of day i.e. 4 PM) a. Judging of quilts will take place before the show starts, in a private setting. b. Quilts will be displayed between the 27th, 28th and 29th of February 2020 at the Ballroom of the Roda Al Murooj Hotel, Downtown Dubai.
16. Insurance : Quilts in the show should be insured through the owner’s individual insurance company. The organizers will arrange an insurance for USD 250 against any major catastrophe during the Quilt Exhibition Days. Insurance above this amount is to be handled by owner of the quilt.
17. Where to Ship Your Quilt :
